As a personal trainer I often get clients that say they can’t do cardio because they have a bad knee, ankle or some other injury that prevents them from doing any type of weight bearing exercise on their legs.
The perfect exercise for people that can’t do any high impact workouts like running is to use an exercise bike for your cardio. Exercise bikes are perfect because you can get a great workout for your heart while not adding force to any injuries you may have in your legs.
For some of the older clients or people with back pain, they make recumbent exercise bikes which have a back rest that is at an angle. This will allow people keep their backs straight while at a slight incline.
An exercycle is the ideal way to build the heart muscle and muscles in your legs without causing more strain on fragile parts of the body. Most of the time if you have any pain in the knee, it needs a lot of rest or surgery. You should not be experiencing any type of knee pain during or after workouts.
Muscle pain is normal and is to be expected when exercising, but pain the knee joint is not a result from training, it is a sign of an injury. Do not do anything that causes pain in your knee while exercising. In most cases using an exercise bike will not cause knee pain, but if for some reason it does, you would need to see a physical therapist or knee specialist. Don’t go to a normal doctor for knee pain because they end up sending you to a doctor that specializes in knees and you can save that visit and money.

Some are portable or even foldable which is great because folding up your bike is ideal for storage. They provide two important functions that no other exercising equipment can compete with – practicality and safety.

Firstly, with an exercise bike you can work out while enjoying your favorite television shows or reading a book. Some recumbent bikes even offer a small pull-out desk to place your laptop on while you burn calories. Unlike other exercise equipment, they make it possible to multitask, making it easier to fit working out into a busy schedule.
The fact that you can be exercising while being able to complete other tasks makes this exercise fit into your daily life. It is easy to fit riding one into your hectic schedule because it gives you the freedom to do homework, catch up with family members on the phone, or watch the news. This effective piece of exercise equipment can easily become a part of your daily routine.

All in all, excercise bikes have been around for many years for a reason. They are kept simple and timeless. They provide a great work out for even the busiest of people, while providing injury proof workouts. They are affordable, practical, but most importantly are safe for their users. A mini exercise bike is also very inexpensive and can be stored under a bed when not in use.
